The Band Amarillo Junction - Official Bio

A lot of folks ask, "Why the name 'Amarillo Junction'? You guys ain't from Texas, are ya?"

The answer is simple - "HELL NO!"

They're just a bunch of good ol' Oklahoma boys (and a girl) who love writing and playing great music. The 'Amarillo Junction' is the corridor where Interstate 40 and Interstate 44 intersect near the OK State Fairgrounds. It was a perfect name for this band, since the members all born and raised in separate quadrants of Oklahoma City.

The band started with 3 members; Anthony Davis (vox/guitars), Ashley Shepard (vox), Sam Sullivan (guitars), and a 4th, Brodee Thomas (mutual friend filling in on bass). They got together one night and played some tunes and sounded pretty good, so they decided to see if they could make it as a band.

A few weeks later, they met Ronnie Deane (guitars/vox).  They jammed one time together and it was epic!  They wrote their first original song together at the band's second meeting (the future full album title track called 'Rearview'). But they were still without a drummer.

They talked to a few and none seemed to fit until Anthony found Dylan Brooks (drums/percussion). That boy could just flat play anything they threw at him.

They came together the first time as a 6-piece and it felt and sounded like they had played together for years (the Luke Bryan and FGL video clips on Reverbnation.com and YouTube.com was from their first full band rehearsal). It was amazing.

After a few months of using fill-in bassists, Ronnie came in contact with Kurt Hayen (bass/fiddle/mandolin) through a mutual friend and fellow OKC musician. Kurt met the band and he was just the catalyst the band needed to complete the lineup.

With all members contributing to the writing process, they soon found a ton of great original material available to develop and record for the masses, with their self-produced debut EP CD releasing in April 2013. They're currently booking scaled-down acoustic shows and full band events all over OK and beyond.
